چکیده

We first describe an approximation method for fitting a two-state MMBP to the departure process of a two-state MMBP/Geo/l/K queue. The fitted MMBP is shown to have a good accuracy. The model for fitting a two-state MMBP is then used in a simple decomposition algorithm to analyze a tandem conflguration of finite capacity queues with customer 108s. The decomposition algorithm is validated by comparing it against simulation and it is shown to have a good accuracy.

Performance Analysis of Active Queue Management Scheme for Bursty and Correlated Multi-Class Traffic

With the rapid growth of Internet traffic, the control of congestion to enable different types of Internet traffic to satisfy specified Quality of Service (QoS) constraints is becoming increasingly important. This motivates the stochastic analysis of a discrete-time queueing system for the performance evaluation of active queue management (AQM) scheme based congestion control mechanism called R...

Discrete-time performance analysis of a congestion control mechanism based on RED under multi-class bursty and correlated traffic

Internet traffic congestion control using queue thresholds is a well known and effective mechanism. This motivates the stochastic analysis of a discrete-time queueing systems for the performance evaluation of the active queue management (AQM) based congestion control mechanism called Random Early Detection (RED) with bursty and correlated traffic using a two-state Markov-Modulated Bernoulli arr...

Queueing Analysis of Markov Modulated ON/OFF Arrivals with Geometric Service Times

1. INTRODUCTION There has been extensive work focused on modeling discrete-time queueing systems with correlated arrivals [1], [2], [3], [4]. Specific attention has been drawn to queueing models with application to data switching, where bursty arrival streams represent more accurately real-life network traffic. To that end, the Markov modulated ON-OFF model has been frequently incorporated as a...

High Speed Networks ANALYTICAL ANALYSIS OF ATM SWITCHES WITH MULTIPLE INPUT QUEUES WITH BURSTY TRAFFIC*

A queueing model for a novel multiple input-queued ATM switch under i.i.d bursty traffic modeled by 2state Markov Modulated Bernoulli Processes (MMBPs) is proposed. A Quasi-Birth-Death (QBD) chain is constructed as the underlying Markov chain of the queueing model. Each input port of the switch maintains N separate queues each for buffering cells destined to one of the N outputs and an efficien...
